The New Mexico EDOT
array was deployed during the spring of 1998 and began 3-staion operation (Los Alamos,
Socorro, and Roswell) on May 12, 1998. Tucumcari came on line a couple of weeks
later on May 27, 1998. During 1998 the 4-station New Mexico array recorded waveforms
from, and located nearly 130,000 lightning strokes. With new software, the array has
so far performed very well during 1999. We had our busiest day ever on 13 April
1999, locating over 7000 events.
We are proud to announce a new member of the NM array (which we may have to start calling the New Mexico/Texas array), that was deployed on 27 April 1999 in Lubbock. With 5 stations we will increase the range of the array, reduce our location uncertainties, and be able to better diagnose timing errors.
We are most grateful to our hosts at each of the array sites. This research would not be possible without the cooperation of the generous individuals and institutions who have supported us.
